Meet the Founders of WGSF
Chris and Will are the founders of the World Gravity Sports Federation (WGSF). They became friends online in 2004 and met in person at COASH in 2006. Since then, they have attended events together all over the world.
Will Stephenson, a top street luger in the UK, has been racing street luge for almost two decades. He owns and operates Dangerous Decks, a company that manufactures skateboards and street luges, and trains people to ride street luge. Will has organized several races across the UK, including Bo Peep and Ride The Dragon. In 2020, he was elected by members to be the riders’ representative to the International Downhill Federation.
Will’s personal mission is to help street luge and downhill skateboarding gain international mainstream media coverage, so that competitors can gain recognition and reward for their talents through a competitive series of events, while raising the profile of gravity sports in the public eye.
Chris McBride has been street luging for 25 years, starting at the end of the last century. He has raced in a slew of organizations, including RAIL, NSLA, EDI, GSI, IGSA, and IDF. Chris has raced in or worked at some of the largest downhill races, such as X-Games, Gravity Games, and Red Bull DHX.
In 2017, Chris organized the Maryhill Windwalk. He has worked behind the scenes to help several organizations, most notably working on tabulating the point series for IGSA. Later, he worked on the IDF board for the year of 2020. In his spare time, Chris works as a computer programmer.
Together, Chris and Will founded WGSF to help street luge and downhill skateboarding gain more mainstream attention and to provide a platform for competitors to showcase their talents. They continue to work tirelessly towards their mission and are committed to making WGSF a premier organization for gravity sports.
